Getting Your Air Conditioner Ready for Summer

Summer is approaching, and temperatures are rising. 1. Change your filters. This one is pretty straightforward and inexpensive. Like the air filter in your car, the air filter in your home needs regular replacement. If it’s dirty or it has already seen several months of use, replace it.

2. Check your condenser. The condenser can get dirty during with winter months. Make sure it is clean and not obstructed by any vegetation or debris. There should be a minimum of 2 feet clearance around the condenser. You can clean dirt and debris from your condenser with your yard hose.

3. Ductwork. Make sure your vents aren’t obstructed or loose. Check any exposed ductwork and fix loose connections with aluminum tape. Loose and leaky ductwork can cause inadequate cooling and make your system work harder than it needs to.
